Airbnb Case Study

UX Writers can end up so engrossed in their career that it invades their personal life. They see UX opportunities everywhere. This case study is a result of this. My mother, a long term “Super Host” for Airbnb, was trying to start a listing for a new space she wanted to rent in her house. Her frustration over the new host onboarding process peeked my UX senses and resulted in a virtual presentation to Airbnb’s content writers in New York. These slides tell the story.

This case study couldn’t have come at a better time. A few weeks later I started teaching UX bootcamps at UC Berkeley. This Airbnb case study became an example of the importance of careful user testing and how different user populations, when tested, can highlight different issues with your product.
